Have you ever stopped somewhere to admire a view so beautiful you wished you could just drink it in? Vistas is our attempt to capture that immersive, overwhelming, almost euphoric feeling of enjoyment in a glass.
We dialled it up to eleven for this brew, loading up the mash with wheat and oats and gorgeous artisan character malts from Voyager, using Citra Incognito and Cryo hop products. We even trialled a new process called dip hopping to imbue the beer with as much thiol-ly goodness as possible. Dip hopping is a relatively new hop-steeping method designed to accentuate nice aromas and suppress nasty flavours. We picked a geraniol-rich variety in Motueka for our dip hop and boy did it deliver.

We dialled it up to eleven for this brew day with our pals at Sea Legs Brewing, loading up their mash tun with a huge whack of malted wheat and flaked oats as well as some gorgeous artisan grain from the fine folks at Voyager Craft Malts. We used a dash of Simcoe in the boil and some Citra Incognito in the whirlpool to bring the big tropical flavours. It was our first time using Incognito (a concentrated, flowable hop product kinda like hop syrup) and, to be totally honest, I wish we’d used more! It can pack a serious punch and overwhelm a beer pretty quickly, but I was probably a bit too timid with the dosage this time. Ahh well, you’ll just have to drink it all so we can brew it again!
We then trialled a new process (for us and Sea Legs) called dip hopping to imbue the beer with as much thiol-ly goodness as possible. Dip hopping is us and floral flavours. Finally (just cos) we loaded up a 10g/L double dry hop of Citra, Bru-1 and Riwaka to bring the 3Ps: pineapple, passionfruit and peach (and also a sneaky vanilla ice cream note). The result is a light, yet lush ridiculously easy-drinking outrageously good-looking juicy little hazy pale. We hope you enjoy the view!
